Ruben Espinoza
CSM (RET)
A native of Los Angeles, California, CSM (R) Ruben Espinoza entered the Army on July 31, 1978 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he completed Basic Combat Training in October 1978. CSM (R) Espinoza’s first Army assignment was with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served as a Rifleman, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Battalion Command Sergeant Major of 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
He also served as Squad Leader and Brigade Operations Sergeant Major with the 2nd Infantry Division, at Camp Casey, Drill Sergeant in Korea and the 9th Basic Training Battalion Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant with the 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Readiness Advisor with the First Army Readiness Training Group Michigan, G3 Sergeant Major for the 82nd Airborne Division and CSM of Joint Task Force Bravo in the Republic of Honduras. Additionally CSM Espinoza served as the Command Sergeant Major of Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. CSM Espinoza has served at every leadership position within an Infantry Division, from Team Leader to Division level Command Sergeant Major.
CSM (R) Espinoza is a graduate of the 26th class of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger Course, Pathfinder Course, Air Assault Course, Advanced Airborne School, Drill Sergeant Course, First Sergeant Course, and the Instructor Trainer Development Course. CSM Espinoza graduated from Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Baker College. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Medal, MSM (4 OLC), ARCOM (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, GWOTSM, GWOTEM, KDSM, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, U.S. Army Ranger Tab, EIB, CIB (2nd award) Drill Sergeant Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
Ruben retired from Active duty on December 2008 after 30 years of active duty. Ruben is a Partner with JTilley INC. CSM (R) Espinoza has two daughters.
